Frida Spanish Language School: what do users think?

Allyson Joy: I was in CDMX with my boyfriend for 3 weeks in December 2018, and we took private classes at Frida Spanish Language School the whole time. It became a kind of home base for us while in the city, and we looked forward to our classes every day. We shopped around a bit For language schools when we arrived and ultimately chose Frida school because of the flexible start and end dates, homey atmosphere and the enticing smells wafting in from the bakery next door :) Teachers and staff were warm, friendly, and encouraging. Most teachers are university students or recent grads with degrees in linguistics, so they have a deep understanding of the Spanish language and language acquisition in general. After 30 hours of private lessons I felt much more confident with my conversational skills and grasp of more advanced grammar. In addition to classes, Frida School offers guided outings to experience cultural events in and around CDMX. We took advantage of the opportunity for guided outings to Teotihuacan and the Lucha Libre. It saved us a lot of time and hassle trying to organize the trip and we had a lot of fun talking with our guide and his wife. Most amazing of all, my teacher went out of her way to organize a group outing to Xochimilco, and we actually got to participate in a posada there-not something we ever would have been able to experience on our own as outsiders. Overall, I highly recommend this school to any travelers wishing to improve their Spanish in a short period of time and connect with the city!

gabrielle Tilley: I took one week of classes at Intermediate 2 level - and loved it! The class size was small, so every student was able to practice their Spanish during discussions. My teacher Alberto was super nice and did well at teaching us what we wanted to learn/practice. Buying the book is optional, but I found it useful. I also took private lessons with Yulma, 2-hrs a day after or before the main class. These were a great way to focus in on grammar and whatever else I find particularly tricky. She was kind, helpful, and patient! I really enjoyed my time with her. In addition to the quality instruction, the school has a very social environment, so I was able to make friends with people from all over the world! I really liked that part. I also stayed in the dorms, which was awesome. I had my own room just a few floors up from where classes are held. There you have access to shared bathrooms and a kitchen. Would recommend staying there!

Robert Glor: I loved attending classes at Frida! The classroom environment was engaging with diverse activities that were stimulating and helped reinforce concepts, vocabulary, and grammar. Alberto, my teacher, was amazing. He created a classroom setting that is warm and inviting. Alberto kept the pace moving forward with material at a level that was appropriate for our classes. It was an enjoyable experience that helped this beginner know that I could learn Spanish! The location of Frida is central and convenient to public transportation and wonderful restaurants. Thanks for a great experience! I highly recommend Frida.

Fred Esposito: I enjoyed the Frida School very much. Diego was my instructor for the first two weeks and did a very good job teaching a diverse group of people. He kept the class interesting and fun by using a variety of learning exercises and adding some local culture as well as historical information. Diego provided a solid basic understanding of and appreciation for Spanish language and Mexican culture. Thank you Diego! Jorge was my instructor for Basico B and also did a great job teaching a diverse and energetic group. His use of music to teach language and culture helped to keep everyone engaged in the class. Thanks Frida School for starting my journey to speak Spanish!

L M: My experience here was fantastic. The administrative in-processing procedures were a little confusing and disorganized but the instruction was great. I took two weeks of private courses and my instructor David was able to teach to my individual learning style and needs. He pushed me farther than I knew I could go and I am grateful for the experience. I will definitely attend Frida Language School again, but next time for more than two weeks.

Peter DC: We had a very positive experience with the school. I found the school by searching online, and was not sure what to expect when I arrived. The online reviews can be helpful, but students have varying experiences, depending on their attitude, expectations, circumstances, classmates and teachers. In our case, I had several email exchanges with the staff to explain what I wanted, and the school delivered as promised. Fernanda was very helpful with placement and setting things up. She chose the perfect teacher, Diego, for private lessons. He was knowledgeable, engaging and fun.

Brie Ortega: Taking a week of classes here was the best part of my trip! I did the basic option of 4 hrs/day and improved a lot in 5 days. The teachers are fun and make the classes engaging. You also meet a really interesting cross section of people. You won’t regret it! Also, shout to Fernanda and Davíd, they were great!

National School of Conservation, Restoration and Museography: what do users think?

miguel esquivel martinez: Excellent place and project to restore, classify, investigate how to expose elements of different themes. A unique academic option. Very adequate place, its modern and functional facilities. Good location, close to public transport.

Héctor Sánchez: Good installations. Although they say that it floods in times of rain

Anabella Najera: Despite its popularity and excellent educational offer, it is sad that it does not have a good organization and contribute to the students who want to join it, the information they provide is very vague and no one advises you at the facilities, they only receive payment for the exam They do not provide a guide for students to prepare and in the end many simply take the exam based on the knowledge they bring from their other schools. I believe that in order to continue training people committed to this task, they must first give everyone an opportunity and support them to present the exams correctly, and if they still do not pass, it will be a matter of the student and not the little empathy of the institution towards the applicants.

Sergio Ricardo Melesio Nolasco: The National School of Conservation, Restoration and Museography dependent on INAH, one of the best in the world of its kind. The National School of Music dependent on UNAM is more towards the west on Av. Xicoténcatl. The one that is badly located is the temple of San Diego, which is part of the former convent of churubusco (museum of interventions), not opposite, as seen on the map here

JUAN CARLOS Ramirez: One of the best schools of its kind

Pepe Urbina: Hello, I have a painting apparently by a painter named Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras, it is a Virgin of Sorrows. The paint looks good but needs restoration work. First I would like to confirm if it was painted by Architect Tresguerras and then check the cost of restoration. Cheers

jordy baez: One of a kind school in Mexico. The architecture of the place is very beautiful, but you cannot access it unless you study here.

Gus Macias: Modern building and from the outside well located.

María Elena Domínguez: Could someone inform me about what strong water is and how the gold and silver frames were cleaned in 1784, I would greatly appreciate it

Spanish School Speak like a Mexican: what do users think?

Abigail Waters: I’ve been very happy here as a student, even as a total beginner. My tutor Jeannie is very flexible and practical, and I feel like I get so much out of our x2 a week lessons that are a balance of instruction (like learning verb conjugations) and conversation. Each class feels tailored to me and what I’m interested in talking about, so everything is very natural. Even after a month I feel my Spanish improving a lot! This is a great choice for those out there who need a more flexible schedule as well.

Christian Chavez: Being down in Mexico City for an extended vacation felt like a great opportunity to improve my Spanish. And after 12 classes with Speak Like a Mexican I’m so glad to have had this experience. I was a little nervous at first because I had never participated in consistent 1v1 sessions before, but my instructor Jeannie was awesome and made me feel comfortable from early on. She was calm, cool, and always patient. At my level, we initially focused a lot on verbs and tenses, and then slowly worked in more and more conversation as I improved. The classes are personalized and focused, but also relaxed and fun. And I may even continue classes online in the future. I would recommend Speak Like a Mexican to anyone looking to gain more knowledge and comfort with the language.

Lucy Hahlo: Olympia has been an excellent Spanish tutor! She knows so much about the language and culture, and has really supported me in my learning. I really enjoy the mix of more traditional textbook-based lessons, along with practical learning through visiting locations around the city. I feel that the lessons have been tailored to meet my needs and interests. My lessons have all been organised through Ricardo, who has been very friendly and responsive. I feel very lucky to have found this Spanish school!

Michaela Farwick: My experience here was great! My tutor Fernanda was excellent! Scheduling sessions was easy and she was flexible with my schedule. In the beginning I knew almost no Spanish and after a few weeks of lessons I am reading, writing, and speaking full paragraphs. Super helpful for navigating Mexico City! Highly recommend their services!

Patrick Farwick: Fernanda is absolutely the best! We arrived in Mexico City knowing nearly 0 Spanish and after just 4 weeks can read, listen to, and speak through paragraphs. Fernanda makes the learning experience great and is very supportive even through the difficult topics. It makes going out and experiencing the city so much better! I would absolutely recommend working with her and had such a positive experience through out this whole process.

Ann Madsen: I’ve had a great experience taking classes with Jeannie. Because my Spanish is a bit more advanced but rusty, she tailors each lesson to me with a mix of conversation and grammar review. Jeannie is very patient and also very knowledgeable about the culture and history, which has been an added benefit to these lessons. I highly recommend their services!

Erik Ideta: Olympia has been an amazing Spanish teacher! My wife and I have been taking lessons with her for about a month and have seen strong improvement in our comprehension, vocabulary, and sentence structure. As part of the company’s immersion experience, Olympia has guided us through, and taught us about, so many wonderful areas and features of this beautiful city. I highly recommend Speak Like a Mexican if you’re looking to improve your Spanish and learn more about CDMX!

Lauren Sherrard: I had three days of conversation classes with Jeannie and they were fantastic! Jeannie took me all around the city and is very knowledgable about the local history and culture. I was a bit worried about having the classes as I knew very little Spanish, but Jeannie was kind, patient and fun - doing the classes really helped me with my confidence in speaking and ability to understand too. Jeannie was very flexible and can tailor the classes to anything you want to learn. For me as a beginner she even helped me to order food and drinks and navigate public transport. I would definitely recommend Jeannie as a teacher!

Jordan Kesner: “Speak like a Mexican” is a gem in Mexico City for anyone wanting to improve their Spanish alongside expanding their understanding of both contemporary and historical Mexico. Three years ago I undertook intensive courses with their teachers and found them so effective that I recently decided to return for another series of classes earlier this month. Although I still have much to learn, I can confidently say that I now feel comfortable enough to engage in fluid conversations in Spanish with several native speakers in my life, due in no small part to the dedication and patience of my teachers here. I worked with several of the teachers at the school over my most recent series of classes, all of whom are highly skilled instructors who enjoy seeing you learn. The majority of my lessons were with Nancy, a naturally talented teacher that I can’t recommend highly enough to any prospective students. She made the lessons fun and engaging, gave clear explanations for both “textbook” Spanish and the naunces of the language that are difficult to understand from a book, was able to identify my particular weaknesses, and designed the lessons around topics that I was interested in, making it all the easier to learn and converse!

Sean Westbrook: Great experience taking 1:1 lessons here. Jeannie was an excellent teacher that made me feel comfortable and built up my confidence to take my solo trip through Latin America. Also, Carlos and Ricardo did excellent work in getting everything set and ensuring the process went smoothly. 10/10 Highly recommend !!

CCC Film Training Center: what do users think?

Daniel Uranga: Arrogant people here, almost annoying.

Luis Mario Oropeza: C:

Emiliano González Lozada: An excellent school, with a high level, great teachers. Inside there is a simple but charismatic cafeteria open to the public. I always dream that one day they will open a local store with student projects, to put them up for sale, there is a better cinema in there than out there.

Emilio Hernández R.: Its facilities are aesthetic, you spend a pleasant time. His cinematographic work is important for the country.

Ramstrong Ikarit: If you want to be a film producer, it is the ideal place to study it, that is somewhat selective and you must meet certain requirements to enter this site, even so, the facilities and the equipment that they have are very good and professional.

Kevin Marfv: Very good school! High recommended by friends! If you want to be a producer and learn more about this school, ask for reports! High recommended!

jose clemente LSM: It is the first time that a movie that is on the Billboard "Sueño en Otro Idioma" is Interpreted in LSM (Mexican Sign Language). In this way, the DEAF COMMUNITY has access to entertainment in its own language. Congratulations! ,

Juan José Joven: Good film school, good Mexican filmmakers are emerging from here. The place is nice, especially the attached park.

Daniela Davila: Your courses are amazing. The facilities are very large and the truth is that the prices are very accessible. Ideal for movie lovers.

The Anglo Mexican Foundation, A.C.: what do users think?

Roger Kenyon: I use the library. It is probably the best English language library in Mexico City, and I take out 3 books at a time. Very cheap to join: about $150 pesos a year.

ISRAEL NUEVO GONZÁLEZ: Great place, expensive but it is worth

Erick Rodríguez: Excellent english school

Hrólfur Árasson: Best school ever

Manuel Medrano: Love this school!

Ana Lau: They do not know the words pedagogy and didactics. I made the decision to perfect my business English, but his classes are primary style (and also bad, boring). I was tested and the group I was placed in is lower than what I currently know; Talking with other collaborators, everything indicates that they did not have groups and they put them together as best they could, without respecting levels. Their teachers are not native speakers, if you are looking to improve your pronunciation or learn more about the language first-hand, forget it 😑. Your system is terrible 😶...

Pablo Fuentes: Very bad experience. 1. I paid for a certification and it took a month to confirm the payment. 2. On the day of the exam, the teacher who administered it could not hear anything she said and, in addition, they put me in a place next to a window where there was a lot of outside noise. 3. It took 4 months to inform me that my certification was ready to be delivered, more than the estimated time according to the official Cambridge website. 4. And finally, they told me that I could pick up my certificate in a window from Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., I requested to pick it up at a different time due to my work and they never responded. In the end I had to do a different certification somewhere else. I do NOT recommend taking exams at this institution!

Walk Spanish Mexico City Language School: what do users think?

merle bartholomevis: We took one week beginners classes + 1 hour private lesson on a daily basis. Adrian was our teacher during the group lessons and he was an amazing teacher, very enthusiastic and kind! If you want to get a proper understanding of the Spanish language, if you want to expand your Spanish vocabulary and if you want to get to know the Mexican culture, this is your best option! ☺️

Laurie Rice: A wonderful way to start learning Spanish. The teachers are great - Jiado and Tessa are fun and know Mexico City. I will take another class when I’m back!!

Laura Zdrowski: I had an excellent experience with Walk Spanish. It was much more organized than a lot of other Spanish courses I researched. We were lucky enough to have Regina as our teacher both weeks we were there (some students had different teachers throughout their programs) and she was AMAZING. Such an excellent teacher that made you feel comfortable immediately. I really enjoyed her teaching style — very interactive and conversation focused, and our classes included walking around the city, cultural sites, markets, and museums which really added to the experience. Would recommend — thank you Regina for making it a great experience!

Kathleen Donahue: I highly recommend these classes if you are looking to learn Spanish as well as meet new people. I started taking group classes after moving to Mexico City by myself in February. I had a base knowledge of Spanish from high school but could not really use it. In total I’ve taken 12 weeks worth of group classes over the last 7 months. I spent my first three weeks in Tessa’s class and found her way of teaching to be extremely clear and easy to follow. She had a more structured format but encouraged all questions and explained things in creative ways. I appreciated that she would recognize and point out my progress. I felt like I was making her proud when I improved on something and it was very motivating. She set me up very well for the next level of classes with Emir. I’ve taken classes with Emir at the highest level now for about 6 months on and off. Emir has been a great professor as he is very flexible and patient. We have covered a great deal of topics over the last few months and classes flow naturally depending on the interests of the group. Emir has a great love and knowledge of language and it’s evident in the way he teaches. I’ve had classmates from different countries and when we don’t share a common native language Emir makes an effort to find connections in all of our languages while teaching. That said the greatest benefit of this class is the flexibility and sociability. If you are a very structured and focused student you will likely benefit more from private lessons and less from groups. I studied a lot outside of class during my first few weeks as you won’t really drill conjugations/memorization but more focus on using/practicing them. Depending on your other classmates for the week classes can be very informal. In the advanced level classes can end up being more talking/socializing in Spanish than actual lessons but it is still great for practical application. Personally the greatest benefit is that I have made great lasting friendships through these classes, even going on vacation with fellow students. Naturally this experience will vary week by week. I’ve had classmates/groups where we often hung out after class and became great friends and I have also had classmates/groups where we hardly interacted. I really enjoyed the format of meeting in cafes and walking around the city. It allowed me to make connections with my surroundings and allow me to think of more questions about how to use the language in a realistic and functional way. Locations/museums will get a bit repetitive after about 3 weeks but the professors would ask us our preferences on places to visit throughout the week and change what they could. On the admin side the school itself has been extremely flexible and accommodating with scheduling when I needed it. Overall Walk Spanish was one of the best decisions I made coming to Mexico City. I am now conversational in Spanish, met people to explore the city with, made lots of new friends, and truly enjoyed myself while taking classes here. I actually moved to a different city in Mexico about two months ago but missed my classes with Emir so much I decided to come back last week to visit the city and take class again. It has been a truly great experience

nancy baens: I loved my two weeks with Tessa! Se is a brilliant teacher. It was my aim to get more fluent and she made it happen. Very professional, open to questions and a nice & open atmosphere in class. The visits to the museums were great, it made me learn so much more about the Mexican culture. I think the school has a lack of teachers as groups were shifted a lot in my last week, this is not ideal for students nor for teachers.

Mikko Manninen: A VERY warm recommendation! I spent close to 3 months studying Spanish w Alma and another good month w Emir. (Plus my brilliant international fellow-students of course.) - And I just LOVED it! Alma is not only an excellent & highly skilled teacher and a charming person - but also truly dedicated to make sure the learning experience as a whole is a genuinely unique, personalized and unforgettable one. - If only there were more teachers like her in this world! Emir gave me the strong helping hand in the ”battle against the Spanish subjunctive”. - For which I’ll be gratefull forever! The management of the school is the weakest link in the chain. Luckily the excellent teachers covered also that part up and I had a great time learning a lot! Guys - HUGE thanks! U ROCK! 💪🏻🇲🇽😎♥️

Learn Spanish in Mexico City: what do users think?

Harriet Bell: I thoroughly recommend this school. My teacher Johnathan was a great teacher and highly educated and we had many interesting conversations about Mexico, Mexican food and museums and locations to visit in Mexico. He used good teaching materials with photocopied worksheets for me to take home as homework. Our one to one classes were really enjoyable. Thank you Jonathan!
Response: Hola Harriet, muchas gracias por tu reseña. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your Spanish lessons with teacher Jonathan and we hope to see you back again soon! Saludos.

Laurie Clarke: My experience with Learn Spanish was really positive. This is a very professional outfit and they were responsive and helpful throughout. My teacher, Jonathan, was great - lessons were a blend of learning new things, practising, and free conversation, which made me so much more confident in my Spanish by the end of the week. He had a very kind and patient teaching style, while also keeping the energy high throughout the two hour sessions. I would absolutely recommend this school, it was the best one I tried during my time in Mexico.
Response: Hola Laurie! Muchas gracias por tu reseña! We were really happy to having received you as one of our students and we are glad to hear that you now feel more confident in you Spanish. We hope to see you back again soon! Muchas gracias y saludos.

Sarah H: I loved my Spanish lessons with Jonathan! They were the highlight of my month in Mexico City. He was so patient and kind, and he worked with the very little Spanish I came in with. I felt much more confident by the end of our 20+ hours of lessons. Our field trips together were the reason I was able to see so much of the city while also working full time, and I appreciated the flexibility of evening classes. Thanks for everything, Jonathan! You’ve always got a friend in Minnesota.
Response: Hola Sarah! Muchas gracias por dejarnos tu reseña. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your Spanish lessons and field trips with teacher Jonathan. We hope to see you back again soon! Muchos saludos.

Joe Springham: I took 2 weeks of classes with LSMC and had an absolutely fantastic time! My teacher Luis was everything I hoped for - friendly, patient, interesting and genuinely invested in improving my Spanish. A really brilliant teacher, Luis prepared for classes, provided very useful material and sought the best methods to get me to improve, work on my bad habits and become more free flowing in everyday conversational Spanish. Luis understood my gaps very early on and I certainly feel vastly improved after the two weeks of learning. I recommend Luis at LSMC to all learners around the world seeking to learn Spanish in the wonderful Mexico City.
Response: Hola Joe! Thank you so much for leaving us your review. Luis really enjoyed teaching you and we hope to see you back again soon. Muchos saludos!

Jack Lee: I took an online course with Francisco, it was my second time studying with this school and I recommend it highly. They are flexible with scheduling and can accommodate irregular days and times for lessons, which many other schools do not offer. Francisco tailored the course content based on my objectives, and provided an engaging mix of conversation, grammar and reading exercises, it helped me brush up on aspects of Spanish before going to Mexico. Many thanks!
Response: Hola Jack! Thank you so much for leaving us your review and we are honoured that you returned to us to further improve your Spanish skills and we hope to see you back again soon! Saludos.

Matt Hsu: Johnathan was an AMAZING instructor and ambassador of CDMX. We did an immersive experience with him and saw a huge improvement in our Spanish ability in our time together. We will be back and work with him again.
Response: Hola Matt! Thank you for leaving your review. It is great to hear that you saw a huge improvement in your Spanish abilities thanks to the sessions with Jonathan. We hope to see you back again soon! Saludos!

Clint Scott: I took one week of city trips and it was fantastic. I met Luis in a different part of the city each day. We would sit and talk for a while then walk and talk some more. We visited museums and other cool places and the conversation never stopped. It was a totally immersive experience and my Spanish improved considerably. I also learned a lot Mexican culture and history. I highly recommend to all who see learning Spanish as a gateway to learning more about the world we live in.
Response: Hola Clint! Thank you so much for your review. We are very happy to hear that your Spanish improved considerably and that you learned a lot about the Mexican culture and history. That is exactly the goal of our City Trips. We hope to see you back again soon. Saludos!

Laura Sanchez: I had a wonderful experience with Learn Spanish in CDMx! From the booking process to the lessons, I was very happy with the experience. Special thank you to Ita, my teacher during my trip, who was patient, engaging, and super helpful. I am deeply grateful for her and her excellent teaching. I’m looking forward to continuing lessons with her online! Thank you to Jonathan as well, who was super kind and accommodating in my last minute request :)
Response: Muchas gracias Laura for leaving your review! Ita very much enjoys teaching you and we are pleased that you will be continuing with online Spanish lessons. Muchos saludos!

Sarah Widmann: I took classes with Lucia online and in person when I arrived in CDMX. I had a small background with Spanish from high school but needed some refresh along side learning new content. She is very professional, helpful and patient with lessons. She took the time to make my lessons more personal and in line with my interest. She was a great tour guide and planned a whole city trip to look at local CDMX designers. She helped me improve and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for lessons. Thanks Lucia!!
Response: Hola Sarah! Thank you so much for your review. We are very happy to hear that you got so much out of your Spanish lessons with Lucia. She is a great teacher! We hope to see you back again soon. Saludos!

L&C Spanish School: what do users think?

Kunal Mathur: I am currently doing an internship at L&C. As an employer, they are very professional, helpful and supportive. They offer high quality teaching and make students feel like being part of a big family. Students have the chance to discover Mexico City alongside their studies with L&C, they have an amazing conversational teaching approach. They continuously want to improve their service, they never stop developing and learning which is amazing for every student choosing L&C which also inspires me. Best Spanish School Around. Really good teachers. Smooth functioning, always prepared beforehand for any situation. Definitely recommend it!
Response: Thank you Kunal. You have improved your communication skills within a work setting, and are developing abilities to work colleagues in different situations. Your proactivity has also improved, so we're happy that you came from England to do this experience at L&C. Best, Marco

Abdulelah.: I spent two weeks in this school, and everything is excellent, starting with classes and materials. The teacher I had was Isabel, and she is a great teacher. One of the most fantastic two weeks in language schools was during my trip to study languages for two years. The only thing missing is activities. They have only one meeting every week, and it is a conversation class which is excellent for meeting the student and practicing Spanish. I hope they have many activities around Mexico city but compared with the quality of teaching and school vibe, it is not a big problem. The school location solves the activities problem because it is in the heart of Mexico city, so you can walk a few minutes to the most popular places in Mexico City. It was a great experience with the school.

Kir: I highly recommended learning Spanish here! I did 4 weeks of private lessons with Cesar I did 1 hour then did 2 hours once a week. The 2 hours worked best for me, I really enjoyed private! Cesar was so so so amazing, an excellent teacher. I really enjoyed his teaching style. He would tailor the lessons very well to my needs and when I would want to work on something specific he was very receptive. He’s also makes the class super fun which I really enjoyed. L&C was very communicative with me and they worked with my schedule which would sometimes change on a weekly basis. Highly recommend!
Response: Hola, Kir! Thank you very much for your review! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your classes with César. We will pass on your kind message to him! We hope to see you again soon! L&C team

Dorota Popa: I took 2 weeks of the intensive course and Gabi was the best teacher I could ask for! She adapted classes to our needs, always made sure we understand everything very well. The classes were never boring and 3 hours always went so fast. Gabi is such a positive person so we always started our day with smile and good energy. I definitely improved my Spanish a lot during this time!
Response: Hello Dorota, Thank you very much for your positive comment. Yes, Gabi's energy and happy vibe is contagious. Beyond our teaching technique and good curriculum to learn Spanish fast, our teachers are genuinely interested in helping you get the best experience with L&C. ¡Gracias!

Lara Netting: My family had a wonderful experience with L&C! My boys (9 and 13) had 3 Spanish lessons while we vacationed in Mexico City. The first morning was in the classroom and the second they spent some time in a nearby park. The third morning the teacher Guillermo took us all on the subway to visit the Mercado Jamaica. It felt as if we had a local tour and a Spanish lesson all at once! I had asked Guillermo to speak nearly all in Spanish, even though we are still beginners, and he did a wonderful job. We hope to come back again.
Response: Hola Lara! Thank you very much for your review! We're glad to hear you had a good time with one of the best teachers we have at L&C. I'm happy that Guillermo made a very comfortable environment for all of you, we'll pass the message to him. We aim to provide the best services. We hope to see you again soon! L&C Team

Asiya S: Hola! I’ve been going to that school for 2 weeks, 3 hour per day and the results are great! I new just some words in Spanish , so after 2 weeks passed I noticed a good progress. My vocabulary grew , I can talk and have conversations now. My teacher was Andrea, and I really enjoyed her method of teaching, sincerely recommend!
Response: Hello, we are very happy to read this. Thank you for choosing language and culture and we hope to have you here again.

Ahmet Cengiz: L&C is the best course you can take. I took an intensive course and private lessons for two weeks. The school is close to the city center and has a fine building. The staff is very kind and friendly. They help with everything and are great at advising on what to do in Mexico City or where to find something. The director, Marco, is also very nice and ensures you are satisfied with your classes. The classes are fun, and all the material is included. In addition to the classes, you can take private lessons, and there is a conversation session every week that everyone can join. In addition, Professor Dieter and Isaac were great in helping out with questions and teaching Spanish. In the classes(B2/C1 Level), we learned grammar, had conversations, and played short games to make it more memorable and fun. If you want to be part of a class with students from around the world where there are fun conversations and great Spanish lessons, I definitely recommend it. They also provide a certificate if you ask for one. Also, it is excellent to go to class in the morning, enjoy a lecture and visit somewhere in the city. It is easy to go to Bosque Chapultepec, Zocalo, and tons of museums from the school. Great way to learn and practice Spanish!!!
Response: Hola Ahmet, Thank you very much for taking out time to tell us about your experience at lenguaycultura. We are very happy that you enjoyed your time with us which was both productive and fun as described above. You are always welcome and we hope to see you again soon. Kind regards, L&C team.

Centro de Enseñanza para Extranjeros (CEPE): what do users think?

Thomas Pham: First, I have to give five stars to the teachers. They put in their full efforts and more. 2 stars on the books. Poorly written. Introduced alot of vocabulary, but even the Spanish translation were insufficient, if provided. I took level 5 and 6. Example of extremely poorly written explanation in the level 6 book is the teaching of the passive voice. Rather than providing sufficient examples to demonstrate how the past participle will be gender and numerically modified, they used only singular masculine, giving the false demonstration that the past participle is not changed. No other text books were that unclear. A problem I find with Mexican Spanish, is that they use their own terminology (pretérito imperfecto is called copretérito), which is very confusing, and they do not have the conversion printed in the appendix or back page. Their covid policy is schizophrenic, wanted to painfully swab everyone’s nose when teacher is off for covid, yet sick students and teachers do not have to be tested, and they discouraged me from getting tested when I was very sick (half of the class was sick), and the students and some teachers refused to wear masks. I think the CEPE model for teaching Spanish using only Spanish in class and in the book is inefficient. Although it makes it fair for students of different countries in the same class, you can acquire Spanish much faster at the beginning levels using Spanish book written in your native language. This gives a huge advantage to those who speaks an anglosaxon or romance or latin based language. Even at a higher Spanish level, a book written in Spanish but have glossary or vocabulary list with your native language helps to expedite the acquisition process. I am used to the traditional way of learning languages- repeated conjugation, fill in the blanks and hand writing drills. The new methods used now, including CEPE incorporating games, multimedia, etc is just not for me. There were an excess of essay requirement, which took too much time, and does not have as much value as conversion. No one said that you must have a smartphone with wifi for CEPE, but, yes, you need it. It is part of the teaching, playing games on your smart phone. I rather have exercise sheets and a no 2 pencil. The final exam and the oral exam is silly. You take it, but can not see what you got wrong. I flunked my first oral exam (7 of 20), how the heck? No explanation. And got at 19 of 20 on the second. Doesn’t make sense at all. At least you need feedback, especially when they failed me on my final exam in the oral section. The SIELE exam is provided free. It is more of a test of memory and less on language competency. Even the native teachers failed to achieve C1. The more you focus on memory of the lecture, the better you score. The administration seems to to very rigid, and inflexible to feedback. There were like 3 editions of the books issued in my level 5 course, leading to confusion during class. Although I did review alot of my Spanish from 30 years ago, and met very good people at the school, there are better methods to teach Spanish. And that is to use a book well written, such that you can learn from the book alone, and not have the teachers make up for the deficiencies in the books.

Alejandro Pena Rueda: Psicology’s UNAM building, excellent public education in CDMX.Modern installation, classroom and laboratories in accord with modern needs to teaching and learning.

Nathan Landrum: This is the teaching center for foreigners in Mexico. It is part of a large and popular university here called the UNAM. Here they offer certificates in Spanish to be able to study and show a job the level of fluency that you have.

Yuan Shuan: Good school. Very serious teachers

Erick Macgon: the best place to learn spanish, the cheapest way to do it and in a good school with worldwide prestige

Deniz Yurtbay: Their teaching system and the system they use for evaluating student’s spanish level are useless, compare to other spanish schools that I have been before. CEPE is ruled by burocracy and most of the people who work there are not open to any new ideas or exceptional situations. The spanish department excecutives are stubborn and not helpful. I have been different spanish schools in different countries and compare to their teaching system, I found CEPE totally worthless. I dont recommend this school at all.

Pau lina: The registration and payment of Student Elisa was made and because she was a minor they did not accept her, but first the school waited for the payment to be made, and then they told her that it would not be accepted. A MONTH HAS PASSED AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT MADE THE REFUND.

Beryl Yu: A good place for foreigners to learn Spanish, one semester is six weeks, two foreign language courses are optional, the campus is quiet

Adriana Cortes: Very good place for teaching foreigners living in Mexico City!!

THE AMERICAN SCHOOL FOUNDATION A.C.: what do users think?

Antonio Perez Garcia: 🥇

Tania Lopez De Pelsmaeker: Speaking of education in Mexico... Yes, it is true that with so much talent in our country and due to the little investment in public education, employment and security, there is so much flight of valuable people. And this is not over yet. Due to this and fortunately for a few, there are those of us who can give our children the great opportunity of private education. Personally, I also had her as a graduate of the Escuela Mexicana del Valle and Escuela Mexicana Americana since they opened the doors for me to enter an ivy league university in the United States of America. However, as a Teacher of Education with experience in Germany, the USA and Mexico and with reliable evidence, I want to recognize and thank Colegio Americano or The American School Foundation A.C. in a professional and personal way. in Mexico City. I am grateful among many others -and if I am missing someone I apologize-, because absolutely everyone deserves as a team my greatest recognition as educators of people, future citizens and leaders of this global world. With love I thank Miss Marina Beckmann, Miss Lety Zamora, Miss Tania, Prof Diego Zaragoza, Prof. Jacob, Miss Elisa Beltrán, Mr Jordan, Miss Monique, Miss Adriana de Ávila, Miss Claudia Ortega, Prof. Rodrigo Priego, Miss Leslie Tattersfield and Executive Director Mark Iver Sylte for their enormous commitment, temperance, strength and sound decisions during the pandemic . To the same extent to the dear secretaries and police officers, who day after day pamper the students and parents with the best disposition. In our experience as a family at the preschool and primary level, the school provided us with an education of excellence that is competitive worldwide. Graduates from this school can boast that they have all the necessary tools to succeed in this demanding professional and academic world. From the curricula, languages, workshops, the promotion of reading, to providing the skills that life demands, but above all in the training of leaders who are mostly and proudly Mexican. I wish we could replicate this highly successful educational model at a public level, in order to make it available to many more Mexican students who do not have the economic possibility of paying for a private education. Since not only them as students but all of us as a society, we benefit from having future generations of professionals trained with state-of-the-art education. Thank you to the families, donors and the board of The American School Foundation A.C. for such commendable work of maintaining institutions of high academic excellence in Mexico. M.Ed. Tania Lopez De Pelsmaeker.

Shell Cameron Arenas Lopez: This school is very classy!

Víctor Hugo Tapia: We had three swimming competitions 🏊

Javier Lopez: First level educational college

ADÁN CARREÓN FRAGOSO: A great prestigious school

Patico Tavier: excellent school

Francisco Monge: 💲💲💲💲💲

Spanish in the City Language School: what do users think?

Jana Stepankova: I’ve had the pleasure to have studied 3 months full time with the Spanish in the City school and it has been a great experience! All the teachers are highly qualified in both conventional and non conventional teaching methods and easily adapt to the students needs. Within the 3 months I worked closely with Fernanda and Omar who have accompanied me from my very beginner level to a more advanced one. I enjoyed also going to different places every day and meeting new students. I will continue private classes in the new year with the school and can highly recommend it to anyone, as the teachers truly exceed all expectations with great professionalism.

Alexander Lien: We found Spanish in the City by accident while looking for a Spanish tutor for my 13-year-old son through virtual lessons. Anna from Spanish in the City started teaching my son and has been very patient and knowledgeable. She has very positive vibes and excels in applying her linguistic specialty to teaching. We just visited Mexico City for a week and my son finally got to see her and other teachers in person via attending intensive lessons. They bring students to different parts of the city to experience the rich Mexican culture and history. My son is no longer shy to speak Spanish. I have recommended Anna and Spanish in the City to my friends who are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Spanish teachers. Give them a try and you will realize what I mean!

Callum Cunningham: Despite hardly any knowledge of Spanish before moving to Mexico city, after six weeks of daily Spanish classes with Spanish in the City I had reached a level where I feel very comfortable conversing in Spanish. The classes are an excellent mix of conversation and grammar in a relaxed learning environment. Group classes are given in small groups, meaning there is plenty of opportunity to talk and ask questions. I felt that the classes were very well adapted for each level not only in the content but in how classes were conducted. Each teacher I spoke with had a background in literature or linguistics but also a wealth of knowledge about the history, culture and idiosyncrasies of Mexico. I cannot recommend Spanish in the City enough as a way to learn Spanish quickly and naturally, and a great way to get to know Mexico City!

Ellie Williamson: Spanish in the City was such an incredible experience! We came into our one month course knowing basically zero Spanish, and within 4 weeks we feel far more confident speaking, listening and just generally communicating in Spanish. Our teacher Fernanda was amazing - she was so patient with us and made our lessons so fun and enjoyable. I also absolutely loved the city aspect of this course - having lessons in a different place everyday kept it interesting and enabled us to explore so much more of this wonderful city than we probably would have in a different course. Would 10000% recommend this course to anyone! Thank you!

Micah Bowey: I spent 2 weeks studying with Spanish in the City during my stay in CDMX, the classes were engaging and provided perfect learning materials for my level. It was a great way to experience the city and learn about local culture. The lessons were very well designed, taking place in two locations with the second half dedicated to discussing interesting topics. My teachers knew how to explain complex grammar topics and were friendly, funny and well-informed. I would highly recommend as it is both great value and a practical way to learn Spanish outside of a traditional classroom setting.

Ross Zeiger: Spanish in the City was the perfect way to not only learn Spanish but to learn about Mexico City and Mexican culture! Yulma was an excellent teacher. She took our group from zero Spanish to able to order in restaurants, give taxi directions, and generally get by with Spanish in only five days! We picked this school because the classrooms are out and about in the city in different cafes and parks so we were able to bring our dog which was a huge plus. Loved this experience and can recommend it to everyone learning Spanish from beginner to advanced!
