Aura Cocina Mexicana: what do users think?

José HERNANDEZ: During our first visit to Mexico, we took the Street Tacos Class. It was an AMAZING experience: we started out with a coffee in the morning, then made a round of introductions and headed out to the neighborhood to visit some venues (trying hard not to give away any spoilers...). We came back to the kitchen and cooked away. Gaby, our chef, was just great: knowledgeable, patient and passionate about Mexican cuisine. We ended up the cooking class with a tasting of the tacos we made ourselves. Back for a second visit in January, we took the Mexican salsas lesson, also with Gaby. This class was amazing and definitely sealed our love for Mexican cuisine. To me, I measure the success of this experience by the fact that back home I am constantly visiting the Mexican grocery stores and cooking Mexican food at home. Those experience were in-person. I will definitely try out the online classes.

Piotr Tomaszewski: Best place to spend some time and learn how to make real Mexican food. Tacos classes ... Amazing experience. Visit on a local market, taste some local food and cooking classes, It was the best choice. Pame (our chef) is so nice person full of love to local food. Thank you

Kristen Shields: I came here for a cooking class 3/13 while in Mexico City. I had a great time. The store and market tour was super fun and insightful. Graciela is super friendly and answered all of our questions. The group I was with was so much fun. I think this class introduced me more into Mexican cuisine than I had ever learned. I feel that the class was well organized and we all worked together to cook the food. I highly recommend their virtual or in person classes which I have done both and they were great.

Kelly McNamara: Fantastic experience ! Highly recommend. Pame was such a welcoming and friendly host and so knowledgeable. The market tour was amazing , so much to see and taste. The tacos we made were so delicious! Overall amazing experience. We had tonnes to eat and drink 🙂

Julio Gonzalez: Took the street tacos class with Pamela. Had a wonderful experience I recommend to anyone who wants to have a real food experience regardless of your cooking skill or interest. We toured the local market, learned about the culture as we learned about the food and made some excellent tacos and sauces we shared together. Well worth the time!

Bas Dopheide: Thank you Aura Cooking School for the amazing Street Tacos cooking class. Our instructor Gaby did a fantastic job teaching us more about Mexican ingredients, salsas and tortillas. The cooking studio is nice, cozy and well equipped and the tacos you prepare are outstanding. I highly recommend this place.

Dave Stockert: We just had the most wonderful private cooking class for 13 of us on our first trip to Mexico City. We toured the market, learned so much about the ingredients we would be using as well as traditional Mexican techniques, and tasted some delicious food (so come hungry). Then back to the well-appointed studio for a hands-on experience cooking a fabulous Mexican meal. Our chef instructors — Pame and Gaby — were an absolute delight. Highly recommend

Elin Lien: Very fun foodie experience - we did so much (street food sightseeing, market tour, cooking, drinking) in so little time, the hours really flew by. The food we made together was incredible, our chef kept the atmosphere fun and included everyone, and there were plenty of little surprises along the way. Thanks for a great experience, can’t wait to try to make these recipes at home!

imoniquee: Our Mexican cooking class was above our expectations. It was fun and a great experience. Then food.. was Devine.. ate one of my favourite dishes I’ve ever eaten. Thank you to chef Eduardo

Luke Sexton: We had a super experience with Eduardo, totally blew us away. This is not just a cooking class, it is a culinary experience...not to be missed! Would highly recommend for anyone in CDMX.

Jonte Lee: The best cooking experience ever! The food was the best I had in Mexico. Chef Éren gave us a tour of the local market. This is where we shopped for our ingredients. She gave us a beautiful history of the foods of Mexico. Then the fun started. We had a fantastic time cooking, laughing, drinking, and learning. It reminded me of cooking with family. I had an excellent time. I highly recommend this excursion.

Alexandra Nappi: We had a wonderful experience with our cooking and cocktails class with Eduardo! It was the perfect way to introduce us to authentic Mexican cuisine in the beginning of our trip. We loved getting to explore the market and learn about local ingredients. We got to practice our own cooking skills while preparing one of the most delicious meals of our entire trip. The cocktails were paired perfectly with each course and tasted delicious. If we are able to return to CDMX, I would definitely do this class again.

Matt Kalman: What an amazing experience. Eduardo is a world class chef, an amazing teacher and a great host. Recommend this tour to anyone who loves food visiting CDMX!

La Pitahaya Vegana: what do users think?

Katrina Proulx: This was the first place I ate when I landed in CDMX and I Loved it so much I went back twice within my short stay in this city! The tacos are deliciously pink, the waffles divine, and the breakfast burrito combo a steal! Not only that, but I was told that almost everything is made from scratch in-house. Highly recommended for vegans and non-vegans alike 👌🏼

Sejal Jain: Awesome food. Very unique, flavourful and yummy. My family and I went here twice because it was so good. Felt safe and comfortable eating here given we are vegetarian. So many options to choose from! I highly recommend and would go back again. Vegetarian options: a variety

Kat Klein: One of the best vegan spots in town, especially for breakfast and brunch. I’m happy the quality of the food has been consistent over time as compared to other places. Service has always been excellent, as has the food of course! Chilaquiles are probably my favorite. Fun fact: I have never actually tried the pink tortillas that La Pitahaya is famous for, but I’m sure they’re just as tasty as everything else!

Laryssa Wirstiuk: My boyfriend and I first learned about this place through a CDMX video on a vegan YouTube channel, and I bookmarked it for a future trip. The food and service did not disappoint! We loved the playful look of the pink tortillas as well as the delicious taste of each dish. The server accidentally brought us a dish we had not ordered, and he would not let us pay for it… even though we devoured the surprise dish and insisted we would pay. Super friendly and gracious service! I definitely recommend this spot.

Cambita Feliz: Very unique tacos for sure! Their presentation definitely catches your attention. Ordered the 3 combination tacos and they tasted fabulous. Great service!

Zachary Schultz: I made a reservation through their website a couple weeks in advance - I’d recommend making just in case. My group of 10 went for Saturday brunch and it was amazing! All of the food was great - tasty, creative and beautiful. Definitely a fun spot even if you are not vegan!

Sai Yaswanth: We were in CDMX for the first time and were looking a vegetarian options and found this awesome restaurant and got to know that this is the most instagrammed restaurant in whole of Mexico City. We ordered Nachos, Tofu Tacos and Mole Mixteco which is a rice dish with plantain in it. Tacos and Nachos taste was good but the Rice dish was somewhat different as it was sweet because of the plantain. Staff were good and friendly.

Kate Glenn: This is such a welcoming restaurant with an amazing menu. Their social media presence is unmatched with involvement and it’s so sweet. The food was delicious, I hope I get another chance to visit while I’m here!

Kevin Shah: Our first meal in CDMX. This place is a cool vibe with 90s rock music videos playing and enjoying a meal with friends in the patio. I love that the furniture is different and unique as they are focused on sustainability. The presentation of the food is great. I really enjoyed the unique flavors that all came together on the pizza. I had the Al pastor pizza and the mexicana and I really liked the think crust and the density of ingredients. Because of language and being my first night in CDMX I could not engage with the folks working there. I am working on my confidence with diving into Spanish. Finally, I want to talk about the empanadas. OME- Oh my Empanadas. I think these were some of the best I had. The pastry was really good and the filling for carne and spinach were amazing. My friends said they did not enjoy the bacon one as much. I loved it. It was a great way to kick off our week in Ciudad de México. ❤️🇲🇽

Smitha Parekh: Delicious vegan food, would definitely come again. Everyone finished everything that was ordered. Staff was very friendly and helpful with ordering and serving. We went as a party of 9, and had wonderful service.

saskia scheitz: Best Pizza I ate since I went Vegan! The dough was like an Italian pizza, the vegan cheese on It tasted amazing! And they served it with an amazing herbal oil and chili oil! The service is on top! The waiter was very attentive - when he brought the pizza, he put away the fan. We will come back! Vegetarian options: Vegan only

JugHandle: it was amazing!! the whole experience.. we had the Pizza Al Pastor, so good we had to order another. the second came out a little under cooked but they were immediately happy to exchange it or cook it more, great vibes and we were very happy with the response. also the chairs are auper comfortable. i recommend this spot wether your vegan or not.

Tiffany Carter: Wow this is the best pizza I’ve had in Mexico so far! The flavor is spot on and the crust is amazing. Got a personal pan which had about 4 slices.Definitely worth it! 🤤

Cat Prestridge: Best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. I get the Hawaiian and the caprese and find myself craving it often. I don’t know how they get so much flavor on those pizzas. The tiramisu is too dry with extremely thin layers compared to authentic tiramisu, so I would pass on that. It’s still cool that they serve it, and I enjoyed it for sure. Just not what I was expecting compared to what I’m used to. But still, my favorite pizza of all time. And the people who work there are the best.

Agnes Theresia: It’s vegan, it’s not restaurants, it’s tacos cart with vegan tacos and quesadillas. They also includes soup and drink in one meal. The foods are oily but it’s tasty for vegan foods. It’s cheap, they also accept payment with card.

Anna Orcutt-Jahns: SO good just wish they had guacamole. But the tacos are out of this world - my meat eating boyfriend even liked them. Get the pastor it’s by far the best.

Sohum Daftary: Out of this world good! Vegan tortas that will trick non-vegans. I got the milanesa torta and it was delicious, perfectly textured, crunchy, flavorful, and spicy if you add the sauces. Note that there’s a bit of a wait at this place, for us it was 10-15 minutes.

Andrew Donaldson: My wife and I had dinner here and it was so delicious! We started off with guacamole. First time having guacamole with pickled onions, for whatever reason, that combination was amazing! We shared red and green enchiladas. The green enchilada was spiced just enough to make your mouth tingle and not feel a burn. The red enchilada was very flavorful as well. For dessert, we had their chocolate cake which was wonderful. I also had a concha. First time having a non commercial concha. I can get them back home in Florida but having one in Mexico City was great

Lena B.: Best food we had so far! So delicious and perfectly seasoned! We can highly recommend the Enfrijoladas and the Enchiladas Rojas for breakfast. If you are in Mexiko city, don’t miss out on this flavour bomb 🎉

Sneha S: Excellent spot for a vegan lunch close to the city center. We ordered the rose lemonade and the horchata to drink- the rose lemonade could have done with more of a rose flavor, but the horchata was excellent… I believe it was made from homemade oat milk, which gave it an unusual taste. To eat, we ordered the enchiladas rojas and the enmoladas, both of which were delicious and also beautifully presented. Overall, I’d love to return.

Collin Lynch: Accidentally stumbled upon this cute restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The upstairs loft is really cute and the service was great. We got the chilaquiles verdes and enchiladas rojo. Very fresh and flavorful. The best vegan food we’ve had thus far in CDMX Vegetarian options: Vegan options here. Five star food

Claudia Wagener: Such a delightful vegan place. This is the chocolate waffle with fresh fruit. The little container has chocolate sauce.

Rhiannon Wolfe: Beautifully presented dishes with incredible flavor. Just wow. If you are after some healthy quality food, this is the place. The berry smoothie was delicious. If you are feeling under the weather, they have a hot turmeric tea. Staff are attentive and kind.

Karla So: Cool vibes, great food, and yummy deserts.I tried the Chile en nogada for the first time and it was delicious!

Kerry Callahan: I ate here for my first and last dinner in Mexico City. Last time I was in Mexico City (it’s been a few years) there were very limited vegan options. This place is amazing! We probably ordered half the menu and loved everything.

Matt Meoni: In one word PHENOMENAL. This place is a must try vegan or not. I have been vegan for 5 years and this was the best vegan burger and vegan chicken I have ever had. Everything is so, so great. The desserts are magic. Get everything on the menu if you can and try every dessert. My partner and I had dinner there and it is such a great vibe. The owner, Roxana, is so amazing to talk with and makes you feel right at home. When we come back to Mexico City in the future this will be our first stop!! I will be dreaming about the rice pudding and cupcakes for the rest of my life. Thanks again for such a great experience.

Lizbeth Sánchez: With Dandelion I have tried several of the most delicious cakes in my life. They are fluffy, moist, not cloying and the ganache is super creamy. The cupcakes are magnificent and come in various flavors. I recommend it to the nth power. Above all else is their Bruce chocolate cake 🤤

Aranza arGo: The best desserts, whether you are vegan or not. Variety of vegan food, excellent service, relaxed atmosphere and fair prices. Widely recommended. My favorite drink is the cheché, simply delicious. ✨

Marigui Fabre Hurtado: The best vegan cakes!!!!! Delicious 🎂🎂🎂 mega mega recommended ❤️🌈❤️🌈❤️ the superb tres leches!!!!

Nellyaween Pumpkin: The best desserts I have ever eaten!!! Sofia De la Mora: Loved the vibes of this place! Very tranquil, big Buddha statue. The food was very tasty, I was surprised at how flavorful it was. Highly recommend the Pekin mushrooms and the sushi (we got the spicy watermelon one). Ordering to share is great so you can try it all. The pad Thai is a must! Prices are fair.

Kevin Shah: We went to this beautifully designed space for my husband’s birthday party. We were a group of 8 with 50% vegans. The ambience is amazing the staff serve with love, friendship and joy. I liked the table as we got to be closer to the ground. Felt like plants that they were feeding and nurturing. The menu is nice and has a diverse selection. We got to try all the food and it was pretty decent. The sushi was heavy on rice and overall I think they could up the innovation and flavors a bit. The consensus from our group was 4 stars for food, 5 for the experience. I enjoyed their light airy ice-cream (pistachio- my fave). I liked the drinks and using plant based relaxants and stimulants.

Ricardo Ribeiro: Amazing vegetarian spot with Food to die for. We had a bunch of different plates to try as much as we could and every plate had its own charm on presentation and yum factor in flavor. Great variety on drinks also. I mean, if we lived in Mexico City this would easily be our go-to spot if we just wanted to eat well and spend a little quality time in a calm place surround by greenery and great service. One of the best vegetarian restaurants in Mexico City… If not the best!

Brittany Baumgarten: Plant-based and vegan food & drinks with a great vibe, fantastic service, and unique interior design. I don’t have a personal favorite on the menu. You definitely should try everything! I would recommend trying to order to share; they have huge portions. Definitely on my top 5 favorite spots to eat in Mexico City!

Claudia Maestre: Very charming concept, the restaurant vibe is pretty good. I have to admit that service was one of the best ones in CDMX, our girl was awesome, combined with good food made a fantastic experience. My sister and I visited Plantasia just to have a quick dinner after a long flight and this food was without any doubt a lifesaver for us. The sushi had a fantastic consistency and taste, also the truffle noodles were fabulous too. I will recommend this place again

Hanna C: As a vegetarian I really enjoyed this place! Was craving some veggies and Asian food after a few days in CDMX and this definitely hit the spot. - Walked in at 6pm on a Tuesday and got a table no problem although it was pretty busy - Lots of millennials and possibly Americans - The Taro donuts with the shot of Thai iced tea and the “Peking duck” wraps are a must!

Pepe Carmona: I loved this place, very delicious “home made” food.Plenty of Vegan options, Mexican and international cuisine. Great price and good service. They’ve serving vegetarian and vegan food for over 50 years.

Fred Ruddock: I tried a daily special. It started with bread then watermelon. And next was tasty bean soup. The veggie burrito exceeded expectations. Dessert was tasty and light. I washed it all down with Jamaica.

Mohamed Thalha: Good Vegetarian Mexican option in Mexico City , very reasonable price and different options. They have good bakery items and breads that seems to be pure vegetarian and a must try

aeroRafa (彡aeroRafa): When in CDMX traveling with a (picky) vegetarian friend we found Yug Vegetariano thanks to Google maps and we were pleased with the place and the variety of food offering. It’s truly a nice place for a quick bite or a full meal without the meat. Perfect location!

Forever: what do users think?

Christine: Ordered off of Uber Eats. The beyond meat burger was messy but really delicious. It was packed with veggies and toppings. The truffle Parmesan fries were the star. The dipping sauce it came with was perfect. I can’t wait to try other items in the actual restaurant!

Maddie Minogue: We really enjoyed the vibes and the food here! Started with the Ginger Ade, which was very gingery and not very sweet. Two of us split four main dishes. We especially enjoyed the Rustic Pasta and the Tuna-Sandia tostadas. Great place for vegan and non-vegan foodies alike!

Risa del Cosmos: The food was really good and wait staff was all very nice, though we had to ask for menus and were prompted to a QR code. I’ve been in other restaurants like this but they also always have had a paper menu available. I was with a friend and we were visiting from San Cris. Her telcel data was used up unexpectedly on our walk over to Roma and frankly I don’t support the digitalization of everything nor do I wish to look at a menu on a device. One of the waitstaff brought my friend a phone to look at the menu but the whole experience was frustrating for her. Why no paper menus?! After we decided what we wanted, we waited and waited for about 15 minutes and I had to stand up and get someone to ask if we could place our orders. The food was pretty and tasted good, the building was beautiful but the service here needs improving along with paper menus.

Gabriella B. Teixeira: The forever salad and tuna melt were delicious. Obviously didn’t taste anything like tuna, so just think of it as what it is - a jackfruit melt and you won’t be disappointed! I also got the cacao and rooibos tea with milk but didn’t care for it much because it needed to be more creamy/frothy.

Emma Paynter: I’m not vegan or vegetarian but this is some of the best food I’ve had, period. Love the vibe, the service and super impressed with the entire menu. For me this is a must do in CDMX!

Rubi Contreras Hernández: Nice place, pretty decorations and furniture that gives this place a plus. Food was good, juice was the best and the french toast magnificent 👌🏻 although, prices are a bit high considering other vegan restaurants. It is also a place where you can work.

Tarrah Boston: Delicious!! The Baja tacos were my favorite! Nice relaxed atmosphere too

linda payson: We had the taco sampler, clam chowder, the Sabina sandwich and Buffalo wings. They were all delicious. There was unlimited refills of the agua del dia and the te del dia, both of which were delicious and the waiter constantly refilled our glasses. Waiter spoke some English. Service was friendly and fast. A great vegetarian restaurant.

Josh L: Cute vegetarian restaurant with tasty food (separate breakfast and dinner menus), outdoor patio seating and friendly staff. Came here for brunch and ordered a matcha latte, a tofu scramble, and a chickpea omelet. Everything was tasty, light and healthy

Pilar Aramayo Prudencio: Amazing option for vegetarians who take their Mexican food seriously. Their pozole was a little too hot, but still amazing anyway.

Steven Dillon: Super tasty veggie/vegan place and a really nice environment. Will be coming back.

Ali Robertson: Tasty, healthy and wholesome food. Great Mexican flavours. Very friendly service! Would particularly recommend the clamless chowder.

Eduardo OV: This place is like Disney Land for vegan people, I was desperately looking for nutritional yeast and of course this was the place to find it! They have a sausage section and a cheese section which I thought it was awesome! Everything you need as a vegan is there. The store is connected to the bakery and the restaurant, I haven’t tried the restaurant yet but I got a little pastry and a donut and 2 tamales (mushrooms, and salsa verde with a chicken alternative) from the bakery. Everything was delicious and they’ve been very nice the two times I’ve been there. Thumbs up 👍🏽👍🏽
