Galleria Dallas opened in 1982, During the opening Olympic Champion Dorthy Hamill performed free for the Dallas community. Since then more Olympic Champions and Olympic athletes have performed at the Galleria Dallas Ice Skating Center than any other venue in Texas.

In 1992 Galleria Dallas invited Olympic Champion Kristi Yamaguchi to perform her Olympic winning programs in Texas.

Question to Yamaguchi: Describe that moment when you realized you were a celebrity after the Olympics.

Yamaguchi: "After the Olympics, I was training in Canada, but I had made a commitment to make an appearance at these rinks in Texas. The first stop was Dallas and the next was Houston. I came for the appearances shortly, a couple weeks really, after the Olympics. It was the first time I had come to the states after the Olympics… It was absolutely crazy. It was at the Galleria Mall and the rink is inside the mall.

There were just thousands of people there. They were saying traffic had stopped… I think they still refer to that day as Kristi Yamaguchi Day (laughs) in Dallas and Houston. People were climbing the trees in the mall to try to watch me skate. It was actually the first time I had security who had to bring me in and out of the rink because we couldn’t get through all the people. I just looked around and was so astonished. I was even laughing. Like "Oh, this is what it feels like to be a pop singer or a Hollywood star when they’re ushered in and surrounded by security guards."

4worldlovers: Three of us traveled to Mexico City and took Spanish lessons. We are at different levels so we had private lessons in the morning followed by joint city tour lessons in the afternoon. All 3 teachers were fantastic and they made the city tours work even with us being at different language levels

I had a great experience practicing my Spanish with Francisco. The classes were 3hr sessions, 3 times weekly, for 4 weeks. Francisco was very flexible and creative as we conversed about various aspects of Mexican culture and history as well as other topics, including philosophy, literature, or whatever I wanted to talk about. Sometimes we would converse in the classroom and Francisco would write on the white board; other times we would do “city trips” and converse about the places we were visiting. I always decided which. My already substantial ability to speak Spanish definitely improved! Highly recommended!!!

Highly recommend this school. We attended for five days in a row for 5 hours each day. Jonathan is an excellent teacher and we hope to return again. Highly recommend!

I am very happy with my experience. I had Lucia as my teacher and I really felt like I made a lot of progress on my Spanish during my week in Mexico City. I liked how she assessed my level and we were able to work on exactly the areas I needed. I am a beginner level but I did know a little Spanish prior to my first lesson with Lucia. I am so glad she took the time to see where my level was at to ensure that I was learning new material. I have been to a couple Spanish schools before and this is by far my favorite one and I will be coming back soon. The lessons were enjoyable and helpful. I felt like it was a positive learning environment and I never felt pressured. The school was also super accommodating with scheduling and meeting locations which was super helpful for me.

I had a fantastic experience with Jonathan when I was in Mexico City. We met daily for 2 weeks and I feel my Spanish really improved. He was very pleasant, patient, clear and well prepared each day. He also taught me a lot about the culture and language through our lessons and grammar. I highly recommend "Learn Spanish in Mexico City" and will use it again the next time I return.

I had private lessons with Luis and they were really great. We moved lessons around town at different cafes. He kept it challenging for me which I really appreciated and was very flexible with scheduling. After 3 weeks with no Spanish experience, our lessons were taught primarily in Spanish and i understood way more than I expected! Had a great experience and felt like I made a new friend in the end. Highly recommended:)

I’m very much enjoyed my lessons with Francisco. He is very personable and knowledgeable about Spanish and also Mexican history and culture. He explained things clearly and in detail and answered all my questions. He provided me the notes he made during our classes which was helpful. I benefited from review of his notes and also from exercises in a book I had with me. In all it was a very positive experience.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Lucía! We did 4 days of city trips and Lucía showed me new areas of Mexico City I hadn’t seen all while practicing Spanish. She was very kind, patient, organized and an excellent teacher. I highly recommend LSMC because it is so customizable to your level of Spanish and desired experience within the city (if you choose city trips). I also recommend Lucía as she really helped me advance my Spanish through full immersion in a short period and gave me tips to keep up my practice! I will definitely return to LSMC next time I visit CDMX.

Ita fue una maestra perfecta para mi. Ojalá hubiera tenido más de una semana, pero aprendi mucho en una semana de classes. Ita es paciente, clara y muy bien organizada. Todos los días venía con materiales que eran desafiantes e interesantes. Recomiendo Ita si quieres seriamente mejorar tu español.
