Sixt Renta de Autos - Mexico DF: what do users think?
Raul Ivan Villanueva: Paid for premium car and the only one available was in poor mechanical and cosmetic condition. I’ve used Sixt in Europe and US, but it’s not the same standard in Mexico. Response to Sixt´s comment below: AICM Terminal 1, but this applies to the company (in Mexico as my experience elsewhere has been great) and not a single branch. To quote your employee, "It is the same fare for a 2022 brand new SUV with all the gadgets vs a 2017, 80 thousand km, no bluetooth SUV in bad shape (cosmetic both interior/exterior & mechanic). It all depends on the availability". I also received the SUV with 1/4 fuel tank and the windshield was cracked which beyond a cosmetic condition it is a safety hazard.

Paul C: It’s not closed but it should be. Total garbage of a car rental spot. Had a reservation at 9am. Showed up at 9:30. Attendant was “away” I called the number for them to return only to be told I wasn’t there at 9 and that there are no cars available. Lady refused to help find a vehicle. Said they tried calling but of course they didn’t. This isn’t a real rental spot. I’m guessing they don’t have cars on location. Again total garbage

Jacob Robinson: Ruined my whole trip. Got to the end of the rental process and they asked for $40,000MX as a deposit. I have never in my life paid cash for a rental deposit let alone that much (usually a credit card hold). Will never use Sixt again.

daniel taylor: Do Not rent from Thrifty. Our car was not available because of "damage". Wanted to put us on a waiting list. We decided to cancel the reservation. They said they canceled it, and gave a "cancel code", that apparently meant nothing. We had to call the corporate office in Mexico City, who sent a link, to fill out, then and email, then another online page to fill out. All in Spanish. I think this is all a gimmick to make things difficult and take foreigners money. Fortunately my wife is from Mexico and speaks fluent Spanish.
Fam GarLaz: Terrible service in terminal 2, you arrive confident that you have a reservation already made so that they tell you that they do not have the vehicle terrible attitude towards the customer they do not deserve even a star ... the supervisors without moving or offering any solution ... or stress reserving why it will be a bad taste in your mouth when you arrive by the "rented car"

Bruno Bianchini: SCAMMERS. I wish I had checked these comments before. I trusted Expedia to rent this car but once I got to the counter I was asked to pay 3 times the price. The office was 15 mins away from the airport so I didn’t feel like going back. I ended up paying double for a terrible car.

Svetlana Volkova: Our first and probably last experience with this company was extremely unpleasant. After preliminary agreements and confirmations with the help of Le Meridien Hotel staff of the rental of the car, the company refused to rent the car to us, explaining this by the fact that we have Russian surnames in the documents. In our opinion, this is a case of flagrant discrimination based on nationality. Therefore, in the future we will never deal with this company again and we do not advise others to do so either. We are very experienced travelers and this is the first time something like this happened ever.

Steven Graham: I rented a car from this place on 3/4/2020, they stole my credit card information and nearly maxed out my credit card. They were authorized to charge a 1000 peso hold which is roughly 52 usd they charged my card 522.20. Americans stay away from here. I will be spending my morning at the US Embassy filing an official report so my credit card company can go after them for fraud rather than enjoying than enjoying the the Aztecan Pyramids. AMERICANS BEWARE!

Nicolo Nisbett: Do NOT book with Payless. We had a confirmed booking made online. When we arrived to pick up the car we were told they had none and the representative was unwilling to help us source another car. He just shrugged his shoulders and went off. The worst possible customer service. It will be interesting to see if Payless even bothers to respond to this.

Tiago Jacob: Like Europcar, Fox Rent belongs to Europcar, they are scammers. You rent a car and only after payment, you are "gifted" with the information that the mandatory insurance, to drive in Mexico, is need. 45$/day. WAYYYYY More the car price. That´s a complete SCAM. These kind of enterprises need to close for good. Desonest enterprises.
Christina Keller: Bait and switch - they lured me in with lower prices and then forced me to take insurance coverage which cost more than the rental. They also claimed the car would be on site at the terminal but I had to take a shuttle to another location to pick up the car.
Shelton Song: I reserved a car for $228 for 6 days on Expedia, it says liability included. When I got there , they said that we have to buy collision for $200+, I can’t use my credit card rental car insurance unless I can show them a letter from the bank with my name on it to prove it. Rip off and a lot of hidden fees!!!
Pastor Robby Lopez: ZERO STARS The absolute worse rental experiance i am going to corprate. I was told you cant extend over the phone i have to come in but yet i discovered online you can extend your rental car. We called for days to see how we can extend the car didnt get a awnser until days later. Then they show up to take the car is peak with the manager on the phone she was very rude yelled at me on the phone in front of my family she then told me i could turn the car in that night. I tried to explain to her what happened she wouldnt let me talk, she then locked the car with me and my 1 year old son and infant in the car and left me in my family in the middle of a parking lot in mexico with no transportaion. They have zero concern for their customers.

Manager said it will be credited to my acct the difference, never did they refund any money and I returned the car a day early and the guy did not want to give me proof of the return he said I will get an email. Never received an email either

Florian Wendelspiess Chávez Juárez: Probably I just had no luck, but this was a terrible experience. I reserved a Van about 3 weeks ahead for an inter-state move. The day of the move they told me that no Van was available, despite the fact that they confirmed the reservation. They then offered me a Van without the legal documents (!!!) which I obviously rejected. The worst of all is that a day before I called them to ask if it was possible to change the reservation by 1 hour. They asked me to call the day after again, rather than saying that there was a problem. So, if you really need the car the day you move, you probably better look for another option.
Edward Jones: Stay away.Complete crooks!! So many of your comments mirror our terrible experience.Van broken on the inside,spare tyre with no tread at all, damaged rear tires etc. The lady at the desk was very apologetic and explained that she only follows instructions. The mechanics got upset and very rude when we took pictures of the damage beforehand and tried to blame some of it on us when we returned the unit.Disgraceful. Look for other options - you will not regret it !!

Firefly: what do users think?
Martin Metz: Firefly is an unprofessional scam. It took three hours to arrive at their counter at the airport until finally sitting in a rented car. 1. You meet at the airport, but there is nothing but a small counter and personal that doesn’t speak English. At some point you will understand, that you need to wait for a transport to their store. Arrived their one hour later. 2. The processes in the store are unbelievably slow. After another 90 minutes (because three people rented a car before me and two employees dealt with them) you finally get to discuss the car. Again, no one speaks English. I ordered and paid a Jeep Patriot like car before we arrived, but once we hit the ground, they offered me a Toyota Corolla, because nothing else was available. 3. After walking myself across their parking cars, I found a Suzuki Ertiga (7 seater) and asked them why we couldn’t get this car. Only because of that, they handed me this Suzuki. 4. I ordered a GPS and a child seat. Nothing was available. 5. On top of the $200 we paid upfront for a three day rent, they charged another $300 for insurance. 6. They don’t ask, but charge you for gasoline upfront. Don’t return a full car. You have to take some risk and drive an almost empty gar to the car return, in order to get as much bang for the money as possible. No matter how expensive the alternative is, never go to Firefly if you don’t want to waste your time with this unreliable provider.
A Friend: This place is a 100% scam. Their prices online vs when you arrive in person with a reservation is a bait and switch. They also fail to mention that you aren’t supposed to return the car with a full tank of gas — they instead pre auth an exorbitant fee for gas reimbursement. It’s a scam, through and through. Oh, and the manager is a pompous you-know-what. Also, when we returned the car, the guy who inspected it says it wasn’t even registered in their state. Uhhh okay ... you were the one who rented it to us, buddy. Go elsewhere.

E-Z Rent-A-Car: what do users think?
Cain Mejia: They have really bad service if you try l to make reservations in USA online at the time you arrive to the car rental location everything changes, they said whatever you pay online that’s just to make reservations but you have to pay a completely different amount of price and a high amount to deposit and also something to have in mind is that the location it’s not on terminal 2 Benito Juárez like it shows on the confirmation reservations. I had a really bad experience.
Amber Sweatt: I know this place has terrible ratings and it is super hard to find ( hint: it’s inside the Marriott, which is forever from the landing gates and no one was there to meet us like they said). But, after them giving us a car that eventually died in Acapulco, they turned it all around. They answered the phone at midnight and started the process of getting us a new car by the next day. AND THEY WERE SUPER POLITE ABOUT ALL OF IT. They sent a driver 4 hours one way to Acapulco to meet us and get us a new car ( that’s 8 hours both way this dude drive). I though for sure we were doomed to whatever fate the Montozuman Gods wanted for us, but they really took are of us. I don’t think even an American rental company would do that. American companies would usually say; you fix it and we will eventually reimburse you. But EZ car did good! Thanks Frederico and company!!
Lilia Montoya: Awful customer service. The contract indicated we would be picked up from the airport but they were never insight. We had to call to be picked up and taken to their office at the hotel. The office was closed when we arrived. We had to wait once again as the representative arrived making out with her boyfriend. On top of all of this, we had already paid in advance for insurance, they tried to charge an additional $25 per day for local insurance. Just ridiculous...
Stacy Hill: Bad Bad company. Do not rent a car from them. Booked on line and upon arrival they gave our vehicle away and told us we needed to pay more money for a different car. They called us to confirm hours before we arrived and yet they still didn’t have what we reserved.

I strongly recommend this agency because I rented a car there about 3 weeks (for a period of 8 days and a price of 100 euros ). When the car arrived, they checked very quickly the condition of the car, but on the return they were very thorough. They found two small scratches at the wheel (about 2 cm2, I have the photos if you are interested) and they estimated the repair at 55 euros, it seems completely disproportionate! In addition, I asked for a repair invoice and photos proving that it was done but for a week they do not respond. Another scam!
Luis Miguel López: The worst of experiences. They do not respect the reservation, the van I reserved did not have it and they do nothing to help you!
